Our traditional bamboo matcha whisk (chasen) is made from sustainably harvested bamboo, aged for over 1 year, then handcrafted by bamboo artisans into a 100 prong whisk. The purpose of this traditional matcha tool is to mix the matcha powder and hot water together to make matcha tea (usucha), and to create a layer of small bubbles on the surface of the liquid that are important to the delicious experience of drinking ceremonial matcha green tea. To extend the longevity of your whisk and keep the prongs open, we recommend storing it on our Matcha Whisk Holder and caring for it as per the notes below.
