Wabi Matcha Bowl

A beautiful matcha bowl, or chawan, is one of the most important components of the Japanese tea ceremony and is traditionally considered one of the more treasured items in a Japanese home. This artisanal tea bowl, designed with proportions to aid the creation of a smooth and frothy matcha tea, is made in the Youhen Ibushi ceramic style and features an ashy, primitive textured surface reminiscent of cooled lava. Produced in the region of Shiga, an active ceramic centre since 742 AD, each bowl is slightly different due to the handmade nature.
